WHAT IS SOUND SENSITIVITY ?

People with sound sensitivity or certain neurological conditions may find the intensity of the sounds overwhelming. Those with severe mental health issues should consult with a healthcare provider, as the profound experiences within a sound bath might trigger unexpected reactions.

Sound baths are generally safe for most people, but some people may want to use caution. Some potential negative side effects include: Overstimulation, Emotional sensitivity, Heightened state of awareness, and Slight disorientation.

Overstimulation

Overstimulation is a state of being that is caused by too much sensory input. Being overstimulated occurs when one is overwhelmed by information from their senses and struggles to process their environment. Your senses are like messengers to the brain bringing information regarding your surroundings.During episodes of overstimulation, people experience the sensations around them to a greater extent than they usually would, leading to physical symptoms that can be disruptive, including: Headaches, dizziness, or light-headedness. Feeling ill, faint, or nauseous. Increased anxiety and stress.

Emotional Sensitivity

Emotional sensitivity can be defined as a heightened emotional response to stimuli, or a tendency to experience emotions more intensely than others. People who are emotionally sensitive may have stronger feelings of love, joy, happiness, anger, sorrow, and fear. They may also be more likely to be affected by the moods of others, or to be overwhelmed by sensory stimuli like noise, bright lights, or uncomfortable clothing.

Disorientation

  • Disorientation is a mental state that can cause confusion about time, place, or identity. It can also be accompanied by other symptoms, such as:

  • Confusion: Inability to focus or think clearly

  • Speech: Mumbling or rambling speech that doesn't make sense

  • Behavior: Agitation, restlessness, or aggression

  • Hallucinations: Seeing or hearing things that aren't there

  • Delusions: Believing things that are false

  • Withdrawal: Becoming quiet and withdrawn

Heightened state of awareness

Heightened awareness, also known as mindfulness, is a state of being in which we are fully present and engaged with our current experience, without judgment or distraction.

What does it mean to have high awareness?

If you're highly self-aware, you can objectively evaluate yourself, manage your emotions, align your behavior with your values, and understand correctly how others perceive you." Put simply, those who are highly self-aware can interpret their actions, feelings, and thoughts objectively.

The goal of heightened awareness is to cultivate a sense of clarity, focus, and peace, which can lead to greater emotional regulation, improved relationships, and better overall well-being.
